Itinerary

DAY 1 Cochin

We all hope you arrived to Cochin safe and sound! You are free to explore the magnificent city, or to rest yourself after your flight over!

DAY 2 Cochin

Today you will receive a briefing regarding the insightful, wonderful trip ahead of you. Alongside this, you will be warmly introduced to your 500 Enfield and its eccentricities, and have an opportunity to take it for a warm up spin around town!

DAY 3 Munnar

Today on this beautiful day we head inland and up into the cool of the hills, covering 150km in approximately 5-6 hours. This ride is one in a million, a true beauty, with long straight lined roads, passing through shady, tropical forests. Sweeping bends dipping into verdant valleys. Lofty hairpins then climb ever upwards to reach the stunning emerald tea plantation that tortoise-shell the high Western Ghats around our destination, Munnar. (150km)

DAY 4 Munnar

You will be glad to hear that today is a day both for rest and exploration. If you feel like taking up an activity or two, why don’t you grab hold of a bike and take a ride through the tea plantations and up to Kerala’s highest point (It’s a good work out for the legs!). There will be plenty more time to kick back and relax, explore the town, and do however you please for the majority of the day here in Munnar.

DAY 5 Kodaikanal

Heading down and out of the Nilgiri range, we cross the plains before heading up spectacular switchbacks to the Palani Hills and thereligious fervor in the temple-town of Palani itself. This is an all-day ride and among the best in the world. The views will redefine your understanding of the word ‘beauty’ for sure, you can guarantee that. Kodaikanal, at 2100m above Southend, is the geographical high point of the trip. Unless you happen to be half penguin, a fleece or two is an extremely wise idea, while taking in the evening views from the heights of our hotel garden. (180 km)

DAY 6 Kodaikanal

Today is an incredible day to explore this historically interesting hill station and all its epic surroundings. We recommend simply using those two glorious feet of yours to walk around and take in those vertiginous mountain views and colonial architecture. More advanced and serious trekking can also be arranged into the deep virgin forest. The less energetic may prefer a wander in the botanical gardens, with their heads in the clouds, or maybe you may prefer to bob around on the boating lake. You may even fancy swinging a club at the towns’ golf course, the choice is all yours.

DAY 7 Madurai

Synonymous with Madurai is the Meenakshi Sundareswarar twin Temple, the pivot around which the city has evolved. The Meenakshi Temple complex is literally a city – one of the largest of its kind in India and undoubtedly one of the oldest too. The temple grew with the contribution of each dynasty and victorious monarchs, into an enormous complex extending over an area of 65000 sq m. The temple first came in to being 2000 years ago.

DAY 8 Thekkady

Today we are covering about 150km, my friends. I hope none of you get motion sick easily, as we have more sinuous twistiness carrying us back to the plains, then up over the Keralan border to descend through lush cardamom plantation and forest to our destination via the petite village of Vandanmedu. Here, deep in the forested plantation, accommodation awaits us for 2 night. (150km).

DAY 9 Thekkady

Today, a short but twisty road will bring us to India’s largest national park; Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, where we’ll spend the day absorbing the unique Indian wildlife. Among the sanctuary’s inhabitants can be found elephants, Gaur, Wild Pigs, Sambar, Barking Deer, Mouse Deer, Monkeys, Dole, Indian Wild Dog, tigers, Cobras, pythons and a wide variety of birds. This is a truly spectacular view into the lives of the non-human inhabitants of this continent.

DAY 10 Alleppey

Heading down out of the mountains and back to the coast, we wind up at a lovely coastal backwater resort near the luscious Alleppey.

DAY 11 Alleppey

A short bounce and a hop onwards to Kumarakon, where we will be boarding one of the famous Keralan barges, which shall be our resting place for the night to follow. Our mobile, floating luxury hotel will chug out into the backwaters before mooring for the night. Utter peace, relaxation, and bliss.

DAY 12 Marari

Heading north, we take a short ride that carries us to the Marai Fisherman’s Village beach resort. The beach here is one the cleanest, quietest and least spoiled on the whole coast, take our word on this! So soak up the sunrays, float out into the sky blue waters, and then starfish out on the gold-dusted beach.

DAY 13 Cochin

From your hotel in Fort Cochin, venture out on a full day of exploration, taking in this fascinating city, home to the famous Kathakali dance, give it a try! You won’t be short of things to do, especially if you love a good antique, spice, or textile shop. There are also a bunch of incredible museums and marketplaces in which you can wind through and around. Plus, you have an impressive fort and the oldest church in India to visit. In ‘Jew town’, a bustling trading enclave is a 16th century synagogue and the Portuguese-built palace, containing beautiful murals, is another one of Cochins gems! Aside from dolphin-spotting, you can also take a boat around the harbor, which are decorated with the famous Chinese cantilever fishing nets.

DAY 14 Cochin

Unfortunately, today our journey ends. But when one journey ends, another begins. We had a wonderful time, and hope to see you soon!
